Duties:
  • Under general supervision, performs semiskilled general labor work in cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds atSan Angelo Regional Airport - Mathis Field(SJT).
  • Performs routine manual tasks in cleaning and maintaining public buildings and grounds.
  • Responsible for duties to include: mopping, waxing, and stripping floors; vacuuming carpets in lobby and waiting area; replacing light fixtures and lamps as needed; cleaning and trash removal in airport public and restricted areas; water and cut grass in areas surrounding airport terminal, weather station and control tower.
  • Also responsible for maintenance and repairs duties, including light carpentry; panel board installation, conduit and wiring; minor maintenance on mowers, vehicles, and other machinery; work on sprinklers and outside lighting; general knowledge of HVAC units as needed.

Minimum Standards & Essential Job Functions:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and one year of janitorial work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some experience in plumbing, minor electrical repairs, floor care, carpentry, and painting preferred.
  • Department of Homeland Security requires that a candidate pass a criminal history check prior to employment.
  • Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time; work in extreme weather conditions; lift 50 lbs. floor to knuckle, and follow oral and written instructions.
