Protecting Your Business
The Certified Crime Prevention Business Program is built around four main elements which consist of written policies, training, security assessments and liaison with the Police Department. These four elements are broken down into certain mandatory and optional requirements that must be fulfilled by the business seeking certification within the program. The purpose of the program is to prevent participating businesses from being victimized. This is accomplished by raising awareness and knowledge through written policies and training, implementing recommended security applications, and by increased communication and cooperation between businesses themselves, and between the business community and the Police Department.

Tips for Businesses
Is Your Neighborhood Ready to Resist Crime?
The prevention of crime, particularly crime involving residential neighborhoods, is a responsibility that must be shared equally by law enforcement and private citizens. The fact is, the impact on crime prevention by law enforcement alone is minimal when compared with the power of private citizens working with law enforcement and with each other. NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH is base on this concept of cooperation, and nationwide statistics prove that it works. When citizens take positive steps to secure their own property and neighbors learn how to report suspicious activity around their homes, burglary and related offenses decrease dramatically.
What is Neighborhood Watch?
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that enlists the active participation of residents in cooperation with law enforcement to reduce crime, solve problems, and improve the quality of life in your area. In it you will get to know and work with your neighbors, and learn how to:
-
Recognize and report crimes and suspicious activities.
-
Protect yourself, your family, and your property.
-
Protect your neighbor's family and property.
-
Identify crime and disorder problems in your area and work with MPD personnel to solve them.
The Neighborhood watch officers are dedicated to helping each neighborhood defeat crime. Currently there are close to 100 neighborhood watches in the City of Montgomery. The Police Department would like to see all neighborhoods actively participate in a neighborhood watch. It is very simple to start a neighborhood watch and the dedicated officers will be more than helpful to assist you in starting one in your area.
