Anita Archie serves as Chief of Staff to Mayor Todd Strange with supervision of planning and risk management departments. She also is responsible for human resource matters, special project management and mayor-city council relations. She previously held the position of Senior Vice-President of Intergovernmental Affairs and Advocacy and Legal Advisor at the Business Council of Alabama. Archie previously served two governors and is one of the most well sought out advisors to businesses and educational and government organizations. 

Archie previously served with the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education as Director of Government Relations; is former director of the Montgomery Housing Authority and the Montgomery Riverfront Development Foundation. She is former Deputy Director/General Counsel of the Alabama Development Office, now the Alabama Department of Commerce. She was an associate attorney for successful ADO projects including Honda, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing of Alabama and principal attorney in negotiating incentives agreements between the Tier 1 suppliers of Hyundai and the State of Alabama. 

Archie is a former member of the Alabama Environmental Management Commission appointed by former Governor Bob Riley. She serves as an appointee of Governor Robert Bentley to the Alabama Women’s Commission and Chair of the Alabama Child Abuse and Neglect Board.  She also serves as a member of the Art in Education Task Force and Leadership Alabama. Archie is also a member of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce Women in Business committee.

Archie is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the University Of Alabama School of Law. She is married to Eric Archie and they have two children, Erica and Amari Archie.
